Walt & Marty McLaughlin
Walt and Marty McLauglin have built dynasty distance running programs, at Beaver River in the 1990s and then East Aurora beginning in 2000. This has resulted in 34 state titles in boys and girls cross country, including a state record 23 team titles. Their year-round dedication over the decades has included welcoming athletes to run on their trails and swim in their pond, designing training beyond the team practices, taking athletes to post-season meets, creating and organizing meets and serving as local and state committee leaders.
Walt was on the first state champion cross country team for East Aurora High School in 1981 and then won 2 NCAA D2 cross country titles with Edinboro Univ. Marty was a 2 time All-American in track at Edinboro. She was 2nd in the NCAA D2 National Meet at 800m and qualified for the 1992 Olympic Trials. They are both in the Edinboro Athletic Hall of Fame.
